Located in the Arctic Circle, just across the fjord from Lofoten, Manshausen was recently opened in 2015 by renowned Polar Explorer Borge Ousland.
The island contains four spectacular design cabins built by architect Snorre Stinessen, as well as a main house for meals and shared communal areas. The island also provides a range of equipment so that guests can go on adventures, from kayaking to trekking to fishing. The beautiful and dramatic surroundings also provide an ideal location for activities such as diving and rock climbing.
Apart from sitting in the award-winning glass-front cabins to enjoy a drink, or watching the Northern lights in winter time, on and around Manshausen guests can participate in activities suitable for all levels, from easy strolls on the nearby islands, to spectacular traverses up in the mountains. For those looking to relax, there are two hot tubs, a private beach and salt-water pool. A sauna is currently being built for 2017. There are also children’s activities to keep the young ones busy!
Each Norway cabin rental contains one queen room and an additional room with a double and a trundle bed, as well as one bathroom and kitchen. Three of the huts sit along the water’s edge, with the fourth hut perched on a ledge and looking out across the sea.
For your own Norwegian adventure, look no further than this contemporary yet private escape on Manshausen Island.
